Sille is a settlement located about 8 kilometers from the center of Konya, known for its historical and cultural heritage. With a history spanning thousands of years, Sille carries traces from the Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk, and Ottoman periods. Particularly famous for its stone houses, churches, mosques, and narrow streets, it can be considered an open-air museum.

The History of Sille

The history of Sille dates back to 5,000 years ago. The first settlements are thought to have begun in the Neolithic period, and Sille developed as an important religious center during the Roman and Byzantine periods. One of the oldest churches in Anatolia, the Saint Helena Church, is located here and was built in AD 327 by Helena, the mother of the Byzantine Emperor Constantine.
